Cooley Spruce Gall
The cooley spruce gall is an insect which infests spruce species. It is not a detrimental problem to the plant, merely an aesthetic problem (it just looks bad). It is a problem which can be controlled easily if the timing is right. Control should be before galls begin to form. Apply treatments in fall, after the over-wintering females have settled on the plants. However, typical treatment will occur in the spring, usually mid to late April.
